The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences at Colorado State University has an immediate opening for a post-doctoral research fellow in the field of air pollution epidemiology. Research will occur under direct supervision of Professor Jennifer Peel and close collaboration with Professors John Volckens (Colorado State University) and Amy Stuart (University of South Florida). The fellow’s research will involve subject recruitment, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, and results dissemination for an ongoing study examining acute, subclinical cardiovascular and respiratory health effects of commuting routes, modes (car, bike), and traffic-related exposures. The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in epidemiology or closely-related field with experience in air pollution and human health research. Preference will be given to candidates that have strong data management and analysis skills, experience conducting personal air pollution measurements, experience in GIS, experience conducting subclinical health measurements (including blood pressure, blood draws, pulse wave analysis, exhaled nitric oxide), demonstrated communication skills, organizational and time management skills, leadership experience, and the ability to work independently and within collaborative teams. The position is full-time with a multi-year duration, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.

Position Description: The Environmental Health Division in the Institute of Public Health is seeking an assistant/associate/full Professor (open rank) to join the core Institute faculty in the area of environmental health with a focus on environmental epidemiology. The incumbent will be expected to teach introductory and advanced courses in environmental health including an environmental epidemiology series of courses, as well as pursue an independent line of research and scholarship.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Environmental Health or epidemiology with a focus in environmental epidemiology. Experience in the areas of environmental epidemiology and links between environmental exposures and human health outcomes. Candidates with strong quantitative and methodological skills are encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to become independent investigators and graduate-level teachers. A CRTA fellowship position is available in the Methods and Technologies Branch (MTB), in EGRP. This position is intended for individuals interested in describing molecular analysis methods for cancer epidemiology and developing a database of these methods for a web-based digital encyclopedia. Candidates with knowledge of biomolecular analysis, molecular biology, genomics, public health or related fields who also have experience writing standard operating procedures and protocols are encouraged to apply. Strong writing skills are required for this position.
The focus of MTB is advancing cancer research through support of innovative and emerging technologies for molecular analysis, and cutting-edge methods for data collection, analysis and interpretation to predict cancer risk, assess prognosis and survival. The overall mission of the MTB is to plan, develop, direct, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive program of extramural research on methods that address challenges faced by cancer epidemiology in large-scale population studies. Additionally, MTB is actively involved in disseminating information about methods and technologies to the research community engaged in cancer control and public health.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is the primary federal agency responsible for cancer research and is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). EGRP is the largest funder of cancer epidemiology grants nationally and worldwide. EGRP manages a comprehensive program of grant-supported, population-based research on the determinants of cancer. Its offices are located in Rockville, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC.
Position Description: The successful candidate will collect information about molecular analysis methods and technologies used in cancer epidemiology, identify robust validated methods, describe the methodology including pros and cons of the methodology, develop a database of the methods and technologies, and help establish an updatable digital encyclopedia of the molecular analysis methods for dissemination of these methods/technologies to the research community. The successful candidate is required to focus on the above project, however, he/she is encouraged to become actively engaged in the rich and vibrant NIH scientific community to enrich his/her learning experience.
Responsibilities: Research, collect and describe molecular analysis methods/technologies that address challenges in cancer epidemiology, population science and public health;

Duties will include organizing meetings, workshops, and teleconferences; preparing briefing materials, reports, and meeting summaries; performing literature searches, summarizing research findings, and analyzing grant portfolios; and developing or updating content for relevant websites. Additional duties will include attending relevant seminars and conferences. In accomplishing these activities, the successful candidates will meet frequently and work closely with EGRP staff.

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Community Health Sciences seeks an innovative, energetic scientist for a nine-month, tenure track faculty position in Environmental Health at the rank of Assistant Professor. The school offers an MPH in Epidemiology and Social-Behavioral Health and a BS in Community Health, with plans to develop an MPH and PhD in Environmental Health. Required Qualifications:

Postdoctoral Research Fellowships, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada
The Howard Hu Lab, a new entity at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health of the University of Toronto, is accepting applications for 2 postdoctoral fellowships (PDF) in environmental & molecular epidemiology. The appointments are for two years, but can be extended to three years contingent upon satisfactory progress and availability of funding. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered.
The successful PDFs will be members of an international team (based at the University of Toronto, the University of Michigan, Harvard University, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, the National Institute of Public Health of Mexico, Sri Ramachandra University and other leading institutions) that is working on a diverse portfolio of studies related to environmental impacts on health. A primary focus is the Early Life Exposures in Mexico to Environmental Toxicants (ELEMENT) project, a large birth cohort study of the impact of prenatal and early life exposures to lead, mercury, fluoride, air pollutants, pesticides, other exposures and gene-environment interactions on child development. Other on-going studies include the Boston Normative Aging Study (a long-running cohort study of elderly men); the Chennai childhood lead study (a study of lead impacts on neurobehavior in children in Chennai, India); the Robert Feldman Memorial study of gene-environment interactions and Parkinson’s Disease; the Michigan Alzheimer’s disease study of environment and epigenetics; and the Soundbites study of selected interventions to reduce noise-induced hearing loss amongst musicians and their fans. Projects can be tailored to suit candidates’ research interests.
Requirements: doctoral degree in environmental health, epidemiology, or a related field; experience in environmental epidemiology studies; advanced computer skills and experience with advanced biostatistical methods; ability for independent and critical thinking; and excellent communication and writing skills in the English language. Also highly desirable would be a combination of any of the following: a thorough grounding in human biology and basic training in toxicology, exposure assessment, genetics and the handling of human biological samples and/or biorepositories.

Environmental Fellowship, Center for the Environment, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA
The Harvard University Center for the Environment created the Environmental Fellows program to enable recent doctorate recipients to use and expand Harvard's extraordinary resources to tackle complex environmental problems. The Environmental Fellows will work for two years with Harvard faculty members in any school or department to create new knowledge while also strengthening connections across the University's academic disciplines.
Eligibility: Candidates for 2013 Environmental Fellowships should have received their terminal degree between May 2009 and August 2013. (Fellows must have completed all requirements of their degree before starting work in September 2013.) Candidates with a doctorate or equivalent in any field are eligible, and they may propose research projects in any discipline. Applicants without a Ph.D. may apply if they have studied in fields where the Ph.D. is not the typical terminal degree. All successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience performing scholarly research.
Each candidate must secure a commitment from one or more Harvard faculty members to serve as a mentor and to provide office or lab space for the two-year fellowship. Candidates may have received their degrees at any university in the world. Foreign nationals are eligible for fellowships, though study at Harvard generally requires proficiency in English. Candidates who received terminal degrees from Harvard, and post-docs currently working at Harvard are eligible for the fellowship provided their research and host arrangements take them in new directions and forge new connections within the University. Harvard candidates should not propose to continue to work with the same professors or lab groups with whom they are currently associated. No candidate should propose to work extensively with his or her thesis adviser. Successful candidates should be prepared to commit to work at Harvard for the full two years of the fellowship.
Stipend: The fellowship will provide an annual stipend of $58,000 plus health insurance, a $2,500 allowance for travel and professional expenses, and other employee benefits. The Harvard University Center for the Environment awarded six fellowships in 2011, and expects to award approximately the same amount this year. The Center will organize a co-curricular program to ensure that the fellows get to know each other and each other's work. All fellows will attend biweekly dinners with their colleagues, faculty members, and guests.

The Center will select a group of fellows and alternates by March 2013, and contact applicants with results at that time. A complete application includes:
