2010/2011 Pediatric Environmental Health Scholar Program for Residents of Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, or Vietnam

The UW Fogarty International sponsored Collaborative Center for Healthy Work and Environment (CCHWE) requests applications to the 2010/2011 Pediatric Environmental Health Scholar Program. The goal of this program is to increase pediatric environmental health capacity in Southeast Asia through research mentorship and practical experience. Participants will be involved in curriculum and mentorship to prepare them for contributions and leadership in pediatric environmental health in their countries and the region.
This announcement and funding cycle is focused on training and research in the areas of pediatric environmental health. Scholars will participate in research and pediatric environmental health topical training sessions in country and through web-based seminars.
Eligibility: The program will provide an opportunity to train clinical and public health scientists from Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. Previous training at the level of a master’s degree or as a physician is required. Approximately 6-8 scholars will be selected for participation.
The program will take place over 2 years. All scholars will participate in year one activities. A subset of the scholars will participate in year 2 activities.

Summer School on Modern Methods in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Treviso, Italy - June 13 - June 26, 2010
The 2010 Edition of the Summer School on Modern Methods in Epidemiology and Biostatistics will be held from June 13 to June 26, 2010 at CastelBrando, in Cison Di Valmarino, Treviso, Italy.
The School aims to provide introductory and advanced courses in medical statistics and epidemiology, and their application in etiology research and public health. Courses given in a two week program will be run by faculties from Harvard School of Public Health and Karolinska Institutet. Furthermore, faculties from the University of Milano-Bicocca and Bocconi University will join the program.
In addition, both introductory and more advanced one-day courses on Stata will be offered. All courses will be using Stata.
