Dan Greenbaum Memorial Keynote Lecture

This fund is established to honor the legacy of Dan Greenbaum, former President of the Health Effects Institute (1994-2023), for his life-long service to promoting public health through improvements in environmental quality. The Dan Greenbaum Lectureship Fund will sponsor an annual plenary lecture at the ISEE international conference aimed at inspiring innovation and progress at the intersection of science and policy to improve public health.

Throughout Dan Greenbaum’s remarkable career, he championed rigorous and balanced science to inform environmental policies. Dan’s ability to listen to policy-makers, community partners, and scientists allowed him to identify the gaps in our evidence so that he could sponsor and promote the high-quality science needed to inform policy. In addition, his visionary leadership and humility helped him to work across political divides to shepherd in meaningful change. Relatedly, Dan invested in the next generation of environmental health experts, further extending the impact of his efforts. Collectively, Dan’s dedication has left lasting benefits to our community and society at large.

The Dan Greenbaum Lectureship Fund aims to continue Dan’s legacy by sponsoring a plenary lecture at the ISEE’s annual international conference that highlights how scientific inquiry and research can inform and influence public health policies.
